From September 15 to 21, Ukraine hosted the Civil Society Week, an event aimed at supporting active citizenship and developing initiatives that shape an open and fair society.
The aim of the week is to raise awareness of the importance of participation in social processes, create new opportunities for engagement in civic initiatives and exchange of experience, training, discussions and search for common solutions.
Throughout the week, humanitarian hubs/centers established for residents of Donetsk Oblast in the safe regions of Ukraine joined the event.
The humanitarian hub of the Ocheretyn territorial community (Kamianske) hosted thematic events. Kamianske) held thematic events "Democracy is the art of thinking independently but together", "Health, safety and well-being", where participants recalled the key principles of democracy and democratic society, as well as familiarized themselves with and discussed the main provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on People's Power at the Level of Local Self-Government", discussed an important issue - maintaining health, including mental health, for safety and well-being.
On the basis of the Support Center "SELIDOVO.UA" (Kamianske), a legal education event "Rights and Responsibilities" was held, where children deepened their knowledge of the basic rights and responsibilities of a child, actively answered questions; showed erudition, intelligence and the ability to work as a team.
The hub "Dobropilshchyna - the power of unity" (Dnipro) hosted a legal picnic "Together we are a community, even in evacuation", where participants communicated, participated in interesting games and interactive tasks, discussed the importance of cohesion and the role of active citizens in society.
The event "Dialogue for Civil Society Development" was held at the IDP Support Center of Kramatorsk district "MiRazom" (Dnipro), where young people from Donetsk region and representatives of NGOs joined the conversation. During the meeting, the participants deepened their knowledge of history and modernity, and learned about the key aspects of active citizenship.
The Civil Society Week is a reminder that each of us can be a driver of change.
