Art education in the Donetsk region continues its educational mission in its new location. The Ivan Karabits Bakhmut College of Culture and Arts continues to train junior bachelor’s degree students in the field of ‘Culture and Art’ in Kamianets-Podilskyi. It is the only vocational institution in the Donetsk region that trains specialists in this field.

Every year, on the eve of the end of the academic year, the college’s educational community reports on its achievements. Recital concerts, which allow students to gain stage experience, overcome stage fright and demonstrate their academic and creative achievements, have become an integral part of the training of student musicians.

The auditorium was packed: local residents, fellow musicians, students and their parents, government officials and internally displaced persons had come to support the Donetsk students; for the latter, this concert was a breath of fresh air from their homeland. Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, noted that the Ivan Karabits Bakhmut College of Culture and Arts is a brand of the Donetsk region that fears no challenge.

The concert served as a symbolic bridge, uniting the indomitable spirit of the Donetsk region with the centuries-old culture of the Khmelnytskyi region.

The programme of the event impressed with its scale, genre diversity and impeccable professionalism. The stage was filled with the synergy of youthful student enthusiasm and the experience of the teachers, which once again proved that Ukrainian folk music combined with modern rhythms is a powerful weapon of cultural diplomacy.

“With this concert, we want to show the whole world that Donetsk Oblast is alive, its heart beats in our music, and our students are the future of Ukrainian culture,” shared one of the college’s teachers.

The college ensembles’ performance was a vivid testament to the high standard of musical skill that the institution maintains despite all the challenges of the present day.

The concert’s final chord, when all the performers took to the stage to thunderous applause and shouts of “Bravo!”, was a moment of absolute unity between the artists and the audience. The artistic momentum launched in 2022 in Kamianets will surely return home to the rebuilt Donetsk region. And for now – bravo, teachers! Bravo, students! You are our pride, you are the pride of Ukraine!
