This was announced by Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and head of the regional military administration.
In light of the sharp deterioration in the security situation, Vadym Filashkin ordered the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk city military administrations to suspend public transportation.
The Russians are deliberately targeting civilians. For them, a bus full of passengers is an attractive target precisely because a single strike can kill as many people as possible.
Further proof of this is today’s tragedy in Kramatorsk, where the Russians killed 30 people and wounded 18 others in an instant.
Russia deliberately flouts every conceivable rule of warfare and norm of international humanitarian law. It selects targets where it can inflict the greatest suffering on civilians.
Under these circumstances, we cannot risk the lives of passengers and drivers. The safety of the residents of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk is now our top priority.
We ask for your understanding regarding this decision. This is a necessary step dictated by the enemy’s behavior, for whom civilian transport has become yet another means of killing Ukrainians.
Once again, we urge the residents of Donetsk to evacuate to safer regions of Ukraine. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!
