On June 25, a regular meeting with veterans and family members of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine took place in the Novodonetska settlement territorial community. The event was dedicated to discussing current issues of veteran policy and social protection.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Department of Veteran Policy of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Artur Nasibyan, acting head of the Kramatorsk District State Administration, head of the district military administration, Viktoriya Nabokova, head of the Novodonetska settlement military administration, Yuriy Lyulka, as well as representatives of the Department of Veteran Policy of the regional state administration and structural units of the settlement council.
During the meeting, the current state of the implementation of veteran policy in the community was discussed, in particular, measures within the Program to support combatants, war veterans, Defenders of Ukraine, and family members of the fallen. The program provides for one-time financial assistance to combatants, Defenders of Ukraine, and family members of fallen Defenders of Ukraine by October 1 and by the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen on August 29, support for treatment, provision of sanatorium-resort treatment for persons with disabilities due to the war, as well as rehabilitation for children of Defenders of Ukraine and children of fallen or missing servicemen.
In addition, state programs for the employment of veterans, persons with disabilities, and their family members were presented. Significant attention was also paid to issues of pension provision and the implementation of benefits.
Such meetings have already become regular in the communities of the region and allow not only to update the issues of the veteran community but also to respond promptly to the requests and needs of people. Communication in an open dialogue format enables the formation of a more effective policy to support Defenders and their families at the local level.
