As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, a bike ride along a forest trail in Sosnivka was organized for internally displaced persons from the Donetsk region.

The route, approximately 15 kilometers long, followed picturesque forest trails before returning to Sosnivka. Participants rode in a group formation, which promoted safety, mutual support, and camaraderie during the trip.

Along the route, participants also had the opportunity to relax by the Rata River, where they combined the active part of the trip with a short recreational stop in nature.

The group was accompanied by cycling tourism coach Pavlo Savchuk. Organizational support was provided by the “Eco-Mercy” Charitable Foundation. The Sheptytsky City Council provided transportation to bring the participants to the event.

Dmytro Shynkar, head of the Unity Hub in Sheptytsia, noted:

“It is important to support internally displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. For many of them, relocation means not only practical changes but also a need for emotional support and a sense of acceptance. That is why activities such as group trips, walks, and face-to-face interaction are so important—they help reduce feelings of isolation, foster new social connections, and make it easier to adapt to life far from home.”
