On 24 June, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History presented the exhibition ‘In the Line of Fire’ at the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local History.
The exhibition features photographs depicting the combat experience and daily service of ten brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carrying out missions in the hottest sectors of the front line, particularly in the Donetsk region.
The photographs capture the everyday life of Ukrainian servicemen at the front: the work of artillerymen, tank crews, sappers, snipers, drone operators and combat medics. The images depict both the soldiers’ work in the combat zone and moments of rest, mutual support and human resilience in the midst of war.
Opening remarks were delivered to the event’s participants by Viktoria Tochena, Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration; Olga Zelinska, representative of the Culture and Creative Industries Department of the Humanitarian Policy Directorate of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration; Oleksii Servetnik, Chief Specialist of the First Interregional Territorial Division of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance; Ilya Khadzhinov, Rector of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University, Doctor of Economics and Professor; Oksana Muravska, Acting Director-General of the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History; and Ruslan Palamarovskyi, Director of the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local History.
The opening of the exhibition was also attended by lecturers and students from Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University, representatives of local government, the museum, educational and civil society communities of the Vinnytsia region, and representatives of relocated institutions and communities from the Donetsk region.
Following the official proceedings, the project’s curator, Kateryna Zelenska, head of the Department of Contemporary History at the Donetsk Regional Local History Museum, led the guests on a quick tour of the exhibition.
The exhibition ‘In the Line of Fire’ aims not only to document the events of the war for Ukraine’s independence, but also to preserve testimonies of the courage of Ukrainian servicemen, creating a space for remembrance and reflection on Ukraine’s current struggle for freedom.
