The Ministry of Youth and Sports is launching the “Coach of the Year” award

Published 24 June 2026 year, 18:53

Before medals, records, or spectacular victories come into play, there are years of daily work. And there is always someone by your side who supports, teaches, motivates, and helps you keep going after setbacks. For many athletes, that person is their coach.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, together with the State Agency “Agency for Mass Sports of Ukraine,” is launching the “Coach of the Year” award to honor the best Ukrainian coaches.

On July 19, Coach’s Day, we will honor the coaches who, through their daily work, advance sports, help athletes achieve outstanding results, and shape new generations of Ukrainian champions.

Coaches from across Ukraine will compete in 8 categories:

Coach of the Year in Summer Olympic Sports;

Coach of the Year in Winter Olympic Sports;

Coach of the Year in Team Sports;

Coach of the Year in Non-Olympic Sports;

Coach of the Year in National Sports;

Coach of the Year in Mass Sports;

Coach of the Year in Summer Paralympic and Deaflympic Sports;

Coach of the Year in Winter Paralympic and Deaflympic Sports.

National sports federations have already conducted the initial selection of nominees based on athletic results at Ukrainian, European, and world championships.

The winners in each category will then be determined through an open vote. Winners will receive awards, cash prizes, and gifts from partners.
