On June 23, a high-level event was held in Kyiv with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Matthias Kormann.

The event was dedicated to the presentation of three new OECD policy reviews of Ukraine in the infrastructure sector, public administration and justice, which contain an assessment of reforms in these areas, as well as specific recommendations.

The event was attended by the following: Minister of Justice Lyudmila Sugak, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Anna Artemenko, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis, representatives of OECD directorates and the diplomatic corps.

The parties discussed the implementation of the OECD Programme for Ukraine, the results of joint work on reforms and further steps towards deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the Organization.

During the meeting, Taras Kachka emphasized that Ukraine considers the Organization as one of the key partners in implementing systemic reforms and approaching the standards of developed democracies. He also emphasized that Ukraine seeks to move to a new stage of relations with the OECD by obtaining the status of a candidate for membership in the Organization.

The parties paid special attention to the results of the OECD Integrity and Anti-Corruption Review, presented the day before. Taras Kachka noted that the assessment confirmed Ukraine's high results both in the field of policy formulation and their practical implementation.

During the meeting, the following were also discussed:

• implementation of the OECD Programme for Ukraine and further steps of cooperation;

• prospects for deepening cooperation and Ukraine's movement towards OECD membership;

• preparation for the first stage of the assessment of Ukraine's anti-corruption framework within the framework of the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials;

• public administration reform and the results of long-term cooperation within the framework of the SIGMA programme;

• approximation to OECD standards in the field of corporate governance.

In turn, Matthias Kormann noted Ukraine's progress in implementing reforms even in the context of a full-scale war and confirmed the OECD's readiness to continue supporting Ukraine on the path of modernizing state institutions, economic recovery and approximation to OECD standards.

On the same day, a meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko with the OECD delegation led by the Secretary General Matthias Kormann took place. The Head of Government emphasized the importance of Ukraine's membership in the Organization and expressed readiness to adhere to the recommendations and criteria provided. In confirmation of this, during the meeting, a letter from the Government of Ukraine regarding the request for membership in the OECD was officially handed over to the Secretary General.
