Due to the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, in order to preserve the life and health of the wards of the KУ "Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School", a decision was made to evacuate them. Eight residents of the institution found shelter at the State Social Center "Latgale" in the Daugavpils region of the Republic of Latvia.

The Latvians welcomed our wards with sincere hospitality, doing everything possible to make them feel at home. Of course, the guys are eager for the war to end as soon as possible and dream of returning to their native Ukraine. While in their home institution, they were used to actively participating in the everyday life of both the institution and society. They carried this spirit to their new place of residence.

Our guys have already demonstrated their athletic abilities for the fourth time on the Latvian football field. Thus, in early June 2025, the team of residents of the KУ "Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School" won first place among sixteen teams in the Seni Cup Latvija football tournament for people with special needs, which took place in the city of Staicele.

The cup for the best goalkeeper of the tournament was awarded to the resident of the institution Ihor

As the players themselves noted, this victory was not easy. They put in maximum effort and were determined to win because they dedicated this victory to their native homeland and named it "May there be peace in our Ukraine".

We are proud of our wards! We wish our champions new victories and achievements. We await their swift return home. We are bringing victory closer! Everything will be Ukraine!
