Universities in the Donetsk region continue to actively integrate into the European educational and scientific community. Recently, a delegation from Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University paid an important visit to two leading universities in Poland: the University of Warsaw and the Warsaw School of Economics.

During the visit to the University of Warsaw, the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral student mobility was renewed, which will allow students from the university to study for a semester in Warsaw. The Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University delegation also participated in workshops as part of the project “The Architecture of the New Normal: How the War Has Reshaped the Polish and Ukrainian Labor Markets, Education, and Political Landscape,” which is being implemented with financial support from the Meroshevsky Center.

During a meeting with the rector of the Warsaw School of Economics, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation within the CIVICA for Ukraine project and the implementation of new initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukrainian-Polish academic cooperation.

A symbolic event of unity and respect was the joint commemoration of Vasyl Stus, Hero of Ukraine. Ilya Khadzhinov, rector of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University, and Piotr Wachowiak, rector of the Warsaw School of Economics, laid flowers at the memorial plaque dedicated to the distinguished poet in Vasyl Stus Square in Warsaw.

Strategic alliances between Ukrainian and Polish universities are an important driver for strengthening relations between the two countries and an indispensable guarantee of a strong, united, and secure Europe.
