❇️ Education workers are entitled to a retirement pension (by age) or a length-of-service pension.
✳️ A retirement pension is granted upon reaching the age of 60, provided that the person has the required insurance record (years of contributions).
ℹ️ To qualify for a retirement pension at age 60 in 2025, one must have at least 32 years of insurance record — for both men and women.
✳️ Before reaching the retirement age, education workers may be granted a length-of-service pension.
Such a pension is granted regardless of age, provided that the person has the required years of service in relevant positions:
▫️ 25 years as of April 1, 2015;
▫️ 25 years and 6 months as of January 1, 2016;
▫️ 26 years and 6 months as of October 11, 2017.
🖇 The list of institutions and positions that entitle one to a length-of-service pension is approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 909 of November 4, 1993.
👉 The following types of work are counted toward the length of service, particularly those listed in paragraph 1 of the Resolution:
🔹 in general secondary education institutions;
🔹 in all types of preschool institutions;
🔹 in extracurricular education institutions;
🔹 in higher education institutions of levels I–II accreditation and vocational education institutions;
🔹 in interschool educational and production centers;
🔹 in children’s homes, labor and correctional colonies, reception centers for minors, speech therapy centers and clinics, and school hospitals;
🔹 in libraries — on positions such as heads and librarians;
🔹 in children’s clinics, polyclinics, hospitals, sanatoriums, dispensaries, and orphanages, etc.
👆 A length-of-service pension is granted on the condition that the employee resigns from the position that gives the right to this type of pension.
If the person returns to such a position, the pension payment is suspended.
✔️ Employment in the specified positions gives the right to a pension regardless of the form of ownership or departmental affiliation of the institution.
ℹ️ If applicable, an education worker may also be granted a disability pension or a survivor’s pension.
If a person qualifies for different types of pensions, only one type is granted — based on the person’s choice.
🪪 Individuals who have not previously received any other pension (including disability or length-of-service pensions) are entitled to a one-time cash benefit equal to ten monthly pensions, provided that on the day of reaching retirement age they were employed in state or municipal education institutions in positions eligible for a length-of-service pension and have the following insurance record:
▫️ 35 years for men;
▫️ 30 years for women.
📊 The amount of the pension (by age or by length of service) is calculated based on the total insurance record (regardless of where it was gained) and the wages on which insurance contributions were paid (for all periods of insurance record from July 1, 2000, and — at the person’s request — for any 60 consecutive calendar months of insurance record prior to June 30, 2000).
