Kramatorsk is a city with a unique chess infrastructure that continues to operate even in wartime. Today, I had the opportunity to show it to the President of the Ukrainian Chess Federation Oleksandr Kamyshin.
"We visited the Donetsk Regional Chess Federation, the Oleksandr Momot Regional Chess Club, and the Chess School of the Trade Union Committee of PJSC EMSS.
The Kramatorsk chess school has much to be proud of — it is here that world and European champions, young grandmasters, and, of course, the 16th FIDE World Champion Ruslan Ponomariov were trained. This is an example of the powerful potential of Ukrainian chess.
Together with Oleksandr Kamyshin, we discussed the problems and challenges facing the chess community during the war. We identified the main priority — supporting children's and youth chess.
Despite all the trials, Kramatorsk remains a center of chess strength and continues to nurture new champions. Let's keep working!" emphasized Vadym Filashkin.
