The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, met with soldiers from the 3rd Border Guard Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikus.
Together with the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Deineko, the head of Donetsk Oblast thanked the servicemen for their steadfastness in defending the region and presented them with the Donetsk Oblast Defense Council's "Defender of Donetsk Oblast" badge and the "Badge of Honor" chest badge.
The border guard detachment's combat path began on June 2, 2014, in Luhansk. At that time, the border guards confronted Russian mercenaries, defending the border guard detachment headquarters at 21 Mirny Quarter.
On the day of the full-scale invasion, they were the first to meet the enemy at the borders of Luhansk region. Later, they fought in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, and also defended the Ukrainian-Belarusian border from a potential invasion by the Wagner Group. Now, the brigade's fighters are holding back the enemy's advance on the most difficult sections of the front in Donetsk region, leaving the occupiers no chance to capture our land.
The commander of the detachment, Colonel Serhiy Lozinsky, presented Vadym Filashkin with the Cross of Honor of the 3rd Border Guard Detachment and commemorative coins of the brigade's main units as a symbol of gratitude for his constant support and cooperation.
"It is extremely gratifying and important to see the head of the border guards, Serhiy Deyneka, in Donetsk Oblast—it is here that they are defending the Ukrainian border, fighting for every centimeter of our land. I would like to thank Mr. Serhiy for his attention to our region and his constant support for the soldiers who are defending Donetsk region," emphasized Vadym Filashkin.
