The Head of Donetsk region attended the presentation of the documentary “Chasiv Yar: 2 Years of Defense” and the photo exhibition “Through the Fog of War: Faces of Chasiv Yar”, created by soldiers of the 18th Sloviansk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
The film is compiled from personal videos recorded by National Guard servicemen during the defense of the city, while the author of the photo exhibition is brigade soldier Yakiv Liashenko. These images capture brotherhood, courage, pain, and the living truth about the war and the heroism of the Ukrainian people.
“I have repeatedly emphasized that we must already be shaping the memory of our resistance. Therefore, together with the brigade, we agreed to screen the film in community hubs of Donetsk region across Ukraine, prepare a version for international partners, and later make it publicly available.
I presented the servicemen with ‘Badge of Honor’ insignia for their work in preserving the truth. It was also an honor for me to receive a distinction for support and cooperation from the brigade commander, Colonel Hennadii Kutsoi.
Projects like these document our history and ensure that the world does not forget what is happening in Donetsk region,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
