The meeting focused on the introduction of a comprehensive set of measures to prevent and extinguish fires in forest areas, peatlands, agricultural lands, territories and facilities of the nature reserve fund, and other open areas.
The meeting was chaired by Ukraine’s Minister of Health and Deputy Head of the State Commission, Viktor Liashko.
“For the Donetsk region, this issue is extremely relevant, as last year alone, due to enemy shelling and careless handling of fire, 100 ecosystem fires occurred in the region, covering more than 1,996 hectares.
Due to the proximity to the front line, contamination of territories with explosive hazards remains a serious problem. That is why we continue close cooperation with the State Emergency Service units in addressing forest fires.
Despite active hostilities and shelling by Russian occupation forces, we must preserve our Donetsk region and prevent the destruction of our ecosystems,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
