Participants in the meeting discussed what took place following their release: the initial steps of recovery, returning to service and daily life, family support, social assistance, and the challenges individuals face after their return.
It is crucial to hear this experience directly from those who went through it. This is the only way to understand where changes and our additional attention are needed.
Special focus was given to supporting the families who waited for months and years for their loved ones to return from captivity. Their journey also requires our care and assistance.
"I am grateful to Yana Shumovetska and all the Azov fighters for an honest and open conversation. We will continue this dialogue and work on each specific area. I thank Colonel Olha Koval for facilitating further cooperation regarding support for former prisoners of war. Returning from captivity does not end a person's fight for a normal life. Our duty is to stand by their side and help them navigate this path with dignity," emphasized Vadym Filashkin.
