It was an extremely important and heartfelt meeting with the children of women from Donetsk Oblast who went through the hell of Russian captivity. Their lives were marked by severe trials — the cruelty of the so-called “Russian world” and life under occupation.
“I am glad to see that today these children are back on their native Ukrainian land — in a rule-of-law state where they want to live, study, grow, and build their future. I am proud of each and every one of them. Young people of Donetsk Oblast are a true symbol of Ukraine’s resilience.
For me and the entire team of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, it is an honor to support families who have endured such horrors. Residents of Donetsk Oblast, our defenders, their children, and loved ones must know: they are cared for.
Supporting families of those released from captivity is our unconditional priority. This includes rehabilitation, medical treatment, education, and social support. All departments of the Regional State Administration work with this understanding.
I spoke about support projects already being implemented in Kyiv Oblast, which families can already join. We also agreed with the Regional Youth Council on educational support for children and assistance with adaptation.
I sincerely thank Liudmyla Huseinova and the NGO ‘Numo, Sestry!’ for their dedicated work, as well as Tetiana Marena, Acting Rector of Mariupol State University, for constant cooperation and synergy.
We never abandon our own. Never. We unite our efforts for the sake of our people!” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
