Today, we once again talked with His Eminence about the support that the church gives our people in the most difficult times — both spiritual and material.
For the fourth year now, the humanitarian hub “Good morning, we are from Mariupol,” organized by the Donetsk Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, has been operating in Dnipro. During this time, tens of thousands of displaced persons have received assistance there — and this is real support from the true Ukrainian church, which stands shoulder to shoulder with its people in times of trial.
I presented the bishop with an award from the head of the Donetsk Regional Defense Council and a newly published book, Donetsk Region: Ukraine's Eastern Outpost, about our land, our people, and our resilience. In return, I received an award from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which is a great honor for me.
Such meetings remind us once again that the struggle for Ukraine continues not only on the front lines, but also in our hearts, in our words, and in our daily care for our neighbors.
I thank Bishop Sergiy for his service, for his support of our people, and for his faith in the victory and revival of Donetsk Oblast," said Vadym Filashkin.
