As part of the regional event “Education in Donetsk Oblast: Teaching and Raising Free Citizens,” participants discussed what matters most—the future of our region, the upbringing of children and youth, and motivation. The head of Donetsk Oblast emphasized that the state, the military, and teachers form a single mechanism designed to protect our future and our children.

“Due to the war, the enemy’s destruction of schools, and the forced evacuation of teachers and children, unfortunately, we cannot meet more often, but I am very glad that today, on the eve of Teachers’ Day, we have this opportunity.

I am pleased that military personnel, veterans, and representatives of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine have also joined this discussion today.

I had the honor of presenting awards from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Donetsk Regional State Administration to educators.

It is especially meaningful that among our educators are people who are currently defending Ukraine with weapons in their hands. Among them is Tetyana Khimion, the director of the dance studio at the Donetsk Regional Palace of Children’s and Youth Creativity—callsign “Tango”—who is currently stationed at the front lines. Her award will surely find its way to her there.

I would like to thank the Donetsk Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine for the Honorary Badge “For Social Partnership.” For me, this is first and foremost a symbol of our joint efforts on behalf of the teachers and children of the Donetsk region.

I sincerely thank every teacher, instructor, educator, and school administrator—everyone who, during the most difficult years, did not leave children without knowledge, support, or a connection to their Donetsk region.

“Happy Professional Holiday!”—Vadym Filashkin congratulated the educators.
