On March 20, an online meeting was held to discuss the status of veteran policy implementation in the region, chaired by Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Regional State Administration’s Department for Veterans’ Policy, deputy heads of military administrations in the settlements of the Donetsk region, as well as a representative of the Center for Veterans’ Development at the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education.

During the meeting, participants discussed key issues, including the status of veteran policy implementation in the region, the organization of support for severely wounded and released-from-captivity servicemen, as well as the training of specialists to support war veterans and demobilized individuals. Special attention was paid to the issue of training officials responsible for veteran policy in local communities at the Center for Veteran Development.

Oleksandr Shevchenko emphasized the need for proper implementation of state programs supporting war veterans, their family members, and the families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine. He also stressed the importance of effectively implementing local programs that provide additional social guarantees for these categories of citizens.

Following the meeting, a series of directives were issued aimed at strengthening efforts in the area of veterans’ policy. Specifically, these include improving the quality of support for veterans, enhancing cooperation between relevant agencies, and ensuring more effective coordination of their activities.
