From Training to Work: How Professional Development Helps Unlock New Opportunities

Published 07 October 2026 year, 19:56

Between January and September of this year, 1,017 internally displaced persons completed vocational training with the support of the Donetsk Regional Employment Service; 805 of them have already found employment following their training.

For some, the training provided an opportunity to learn a new profession. For others, it was a chance to supplement their existing experience with necessary skills and become more sought-after in the job market.

Which professions are they choosing?

Among the most popular fields are social worker, office clerk (accounting), tailor, electric and gas welder, cook, nursing assistant (for patient care), and other professions in high demand among employers.

There are several more important steps between training and employment—recognizing one’s own potential, setting goals, and learning to apply new knowledge.

The Donetsk Regional Employment Service’s initiative, “From Dream to Action: Training → Development → Employment,” is designed to help people navigate the path from recognizing their own potential to professional development and employment.

The first step is to understand what you already know, what you want to achieve, and what knowledge you lack.

Participants who have completed the “Your Path to Employment” questionnaire are invited to informational sessions.

“Why Should You Learn Right Now?”—about your own resources, opportunities for growth, and overcoming doubts.

“How to Make Learning Effective and Achieve Your Goals?”—about motivation, learning objectives, and the practical application of new knowledge.

This year, 7 information sessions have already been held, comprising 14 events.

A career path doesn’t necessarily begin with the question, “Where can I find a job?” Sometimes the first step is to understand what knowledge and skills will make you in demand in the job market.

Next comes learning, development, and the path to employment. From dream to action. From learning to development. From development to work.

The Donetsk Regional Employment Service helps make this journey clearer, more consistent, and more confident.
