Junior Sergeant Hunduz Karmalita, call sign "Rasvet" (Dawn), was killed on January 5, 2026, near the town of Kostiantynivka. The warrior will forever remain 23.
Hunduz was born on December 23, 2002, in Mariupol. After completing the ninth grade, he started working. He lived in the town of Rozdilna in Odessa Oblast.
At 18, he enlisted under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a driver-electrician in an unmanned aerial system platoon of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign.
"He was a wonderful husband: beloved, kind, and courageous. A caring father and a pillar of support for his family. He approached his duties responsibly and was always ready to help his brothers-in-arms. He made my life brighter and warmer. His support inspired me to keep going, even when times were extremely tough. He was strong, caring, and sincere—exactly the kind of man every woman dreams of. His smile could disperse any sadness, and his words warmed the soul. I cherish every moment we spent together, because in those moments, true happiness was born. To me, he was not just a husband and the father of my daughters—he was my strength, my joy, and my love. I am grateful he was in my life. I love him endlessly. If only he knew how much we miss him," shared his wife, Yana.
Hunduz was honored with an award from the Commander of the Operational Command "East."
The defender was laid to rest in the town of Rozdilna.
He is survived by his wife and four daughters.
At 9:00 AM, a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes' Memorial platform honor the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
