On August 22, 2025, on the occasion of Folklore Day in Ukraine, a master class entitled "Authentic Singing: Echoes of the Steppes" will be held at the Donetsk Region Cultural Hub in Kyiv. The event is designed to reveal the depths of the Donetsk region's intangible cultural heritage and bring its authentic sound closer to the general public. The event will serve as a living link between the past and the present, a true immersion in the folklore tradition that was formed in the steppes of eastern Ukraine.
As part of the master class, participants will learn about unique examples of traditional singing and learn two songs that are included in the regional list of elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Donetsk region:
- “Black Path” - collected in the village of Lozove, Kramatorsk district (Lymanska TG);
- “Vesnyanka-Panyanochka” - recorded in the village of Yegorivka, Volnovakha district (Vugledar TG).
The master class will be an open platform for cultural professionals, art school teachers, leaders of amateur groups, and anyone who wants to learn more about the authentic folklore of Donetsk Oblast.
