On the eve of Artist’s Day, the Donetsk Regional Art Museum presented an exhibition entitled «Art that heals and inspires.» The exhibition was presented in the cultural space of the Toretsk community in Dnipro with the support of the regional administration’s Department of Culture and Tourism and the Department of Culture of the Toretsk City Military Administration in cooperation with the Museum of History of the Toretsk City Territorial Community.
The exhibition features more than 20 canvases, which are copies of paintings from the collection of the Donetsk Regional Art Museum. The exhibition is based on the works of the artistic elite of Donetsk region – members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, experienced masters of painting and graphics, teachers of specialized art institutions and art studios, collected since 2014, when the museum resumed its activities in Kramatorsk after the temporary occupation of Donetsk.
The creation of physical copies of the most valuable and iconic works from the collection was made possible thanks to the fruitful cooperation between museums in Donetsk and Khmelnytskyi regions in grant projects for the digitization of cultural heritage. These replicas are used to organize exhibitions in cultural spaces throughout Ukraine. Art collections are an important tool for art therapy, as they provide a unique opportunity to interact with art, which serves not only as aesthetic pleasure but also as a therapeutic tool. They can help military personnel, displaced persons, and all those who have suffered psychological trauma to find certain themes that resonate with their inner world, contributing to the process of recovery, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, creating social connections, and helping displaced persons and military personnel adapt to communities.
This allows not only to demonstrate the richness of Ukrainian art, but also to tell about the tragic events taking place today, about the strength of spirit of its people and their unshakable faith in victory.
