On September 5, in Kyiv, as part of the project "In Search of Heritage" Donetsk Regional Educational and Methodological Center for Culture, with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, held a master class on the Day of Authentic Traditional Costume.

The event brought together representatives of cultural institutions, leaders of arts and crafts clubs, and everyone who wanted to touch the sources of Ukrainian tradition.

For several hours, the participants mastered the ancient craft step by step: they knitted the warp, tucked it into the warp, mastered the weaving technique and tried out different ways of working. The result was a hand-woven selvedge that everyone will complete at home, confidently mastering all the skills - from removing the product from the warp to decorating the tassels.

The atmosphere of the event was complemented by a mini-exhibition of authentic costumes of Donetsk region, typical for migrants from Chernihiv region, from the private collection of Lyudmyla Savchenko, a methodologist of the Fine Arts Department of the Donmos Donetsk Regional Center for Culture and Arts. It also featured jewelry and accessories created by her: silk scarves, necklaces, edging and wallets.

The master class was a valuable experience: the participants gained new knowledge and a personal item - an edge band - that will keep the warmth of tradition and the inspiration of their own work. After all, tradition lives on in the hands of those who create it today.
