Deferral for those released from captivity: how to apply and whether it needs to be renewed

Published 26 February 2026 year, 11:26

Ukrainian men and women released from captivity do not need to apply to the TCC and SP to obtain a deferral from mobilization — it is sufficient to submit documents to the CNAU once.

After that, the deferral decision will be automatically renewed every 90 days, without the need to submit additional applications and certificates, explains the Ministry of Veterans.

The following persons are eligible for automatic deferral renewal:

▪️ military personnel released from captivity;

▪️ Ukrainian civilians released from captivity.

Important condition! Automatic renewal will only occur if the deferral period corresponding to the mobilization period is correctly indicated in the account data.

How to find out about the automatic extension of the deferral:

▪️ Those who have the Reserve+ app will receive a notification that their deferral will be automatically extended from the date of the extension of mobilization.

▪️ As soon as the deferral is automatically extended, Reserve+ will send a notification and offer to update the document.

▪️ The support chatbot also has a section with explanations of which deferrals are automatically renewed and which are not, why, and what to do next.

Що робити, якщо відстрочка не продовжилася автоматично?

It is likely that no grounds for extension have been found in the state registers — your data is missing or out of date.

In this case, you need to update your information in the registers and then submit an application for a deferral through the ASC with the relevant documents.

📄 Do you need a paper copy of your deferral certificate?

Simply open your electronic military registration document in the Reserve+ app and download a printout with the deferral mark.
