On October 1, Ukraine celebrates Defenders' Day—a holiday of courage, strength of spirit, and gratitude to those who defended and continue to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, those who are fighting, and those who gave their lives for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
In order to properly commemorate the feat of Ukraine's Defenders, humanitarian hubs/centers established for residents of Donetsk Oblast in safe regions of Ukraine held a series of patriotic events for children and adults aimed at fostering deep respect for soldiers and a sense of national unity.
Patriotic and educational events and information sessions entitled “Heroes of Our State,” “Defenders of Our Native Land,” and “Their Feat Is in the Heart of the People” were organized, during which attendees learned about the history of the Cossack clan and the resilience of Ukrainians throughout different periods of history. children learned to appreciate determination and willpower, and participated in interactive competitions.
Exciting quests such as “Long Live Cossack Glory - Long Live the Cossack Spirit,” “In the Footsteps of Heroes,” and “Cossack Entertainment” were filled with interesting games, quizzes, and crossword puzzles, bringing joy, smiles, and good spirits to the participants.
National patriotic lectures held in honor of the defenders of Ukraine emphasized the importance of their courage and sacrifice.
Various master classes were held, including “Thank You for Your Protection,” “A Gift for a Hero,” “A Talisman for a Defender,” “Hearts for the Brave,” and “A Flower of Gratitude,” which involved creating postcards, bracelets, hearts, and posters as small symbols of gratitude and support. Visitors put their heart and soul into each piece, along with sincere wishes for peace, goodness, and victory.
Visitors to the centers joined the “Clay Figures for Victory” campaign, thanks to which delicious pelmeni and varenyky will be sent to our defenders, and the charity campaign “Thank You to Our Defenders” - this is not only the collection of warm clothes, essential items, food, and gifts, but also great moral support for those who defend our peace and tranquility.
Viewings of historical documentaries introduced those present to brave Cossacks and war veterans who are examples of courage, fortitude, dignity, and patriotism.
Meetings with defenders were organized at humanitarian hubs/centers, where they were thanked for their courage and bravery.
During warm meetings with the families of defenders, the memory of fallen soldiers was honored, sincere conversations took place, guests received support, legal advice, food packages, and enjoyed a pleasant tea party.
Representatives of the hubs/centers, together with residents of Donetsk Oblast, also took part in memorial rallies, laid flowers at memorials and commemorative sites for soldiers, and observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of fallen defenders, remembering everyone who gave their lives for the independence, freedom, and future of Ukraine.
