On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, the Donetsk Regional Center for Tourism and Local History held an event where children and teachers made trench candles to help soldiers on the front lines. These candles can be used to heat water or food, dry gloves, and sometimes simply to feel human warmth.
This event has been held for the fourth winter in a row. The process involves everyone: some cut cardboard, others roll it into a spiral, and others melt wax. Children learn not only techniques but also compassion. Teachers are nearby, instilling in young people the values of support and mutual assistance.
Doing socially useful work is an important mission. Each trench candle represents hours of work by young and adult hands, and the warmth that will go to those who are waiting for it.
On this day, we would like to thank all the volunteers who keep our country warm and bright, embodying the best human qualities.
