President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer to coordinate next steps.
Keir Starmer expressed his condolences over the deaths of 31 people, including five children, as a result of the massive Russian strike on Kyiv on Thursday night. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked him for his support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The leaders discussed the need to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and expand drone production capacity, particularly of interceptor drones. The President and the Prime Minister agreed to work together on solutions to address the financial needs.
The conversation also focused on increasing sanctions pressure on Russia. The Russian Federation genuinely fears sanctions, despite its attempts to pretend that it couldn’t care less. It is crucial that all sanctions decisions are synchronized and coordinated. This will restrict Russia’s ability to continue the war and will help bring about a just and lasting peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Keir Starmer also discussed cooperation with American partners, including coordination of actions with U.S. President Donald Trump, and possible formats for peace negotiations at the level of leaders.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom aligned their positions ahead of upcoming international events and planned further diplomatic engagement with partners in Europe and the United States.
