Kyiv hosted the Open Kettlebell Lifting Tournament of the Volnovakha City Territorial Community dedicated to veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to honor the memory of the fallen heroes-defenders of the Volnovakha community.
The competition was aimed at:
- popularization of kettlebell lifting;
- forming a national team of the Volnovakha community;
- promoting a healthy lifestyle;
- honoring the memory of our defenders.
Representatives from 4 regions of Ukraine and 8 communities took part in the competition, including athletes from Donetsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Zhytomyr regions.
A total of 34 participants competed:
- 23 men,
- 11 women.
A special guest of the competition was Denys Ivanov, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Volnovakha, who currently lives in Kyiv and is recovering from his injury. His presence gave the event a deeper meaning and sincere gratitude to the soldiers.
The participants demonstrated their strength and endurance in the kettlebell snatch with a time limit of 10 minutes:
- men and veterans - 24 kg,
- women and veterans - 16 kg.
The tournament was held in the format of an individual and team championship.
During the opening ceremony, the participants joined a nationwide minute of silence in honor of the fallen defenders of Ukraine.
The winners were awarded cups, medals, diplomas and gifts from the Volnovakha City Military-Civilian Administration.
