This year, the traditional Vyshyvanka Day will be complemented by a new tradition—to honor the fallen defenders of Ukraine.
The initiative is being organized by the civil society organizations “World Vyshyvanka Day,” the “Memorial” Remembrance Platform, and the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council.
An embroidered ribbon will serve as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance; it can be attached near portraits on the Alleys of Heroes or near a commemorative plaque on a building, educational institution, or workplace. Tying the embroidered ribbon is also a symbol of connection, care, responsibility, and love—the values with which we strive to remember our people.
Anyone who wishes to can join this campaign on May 21. The organizers especially invite communities, cultural, and educational institutions to join in order to spread a culture of remembrance within their communities.
Let us remember the people thanks to whom we can freely wear embroidered shirts today!
