On the occasion of the 148th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych, employees of the Pokrovsk Historical Museum conducted a series of online tours entitled "Mykola Leontovych's Connection with Pokrovsk" for pupils and students of educational institutions in the Pokrovsk community.
During the meetings, participants learned about:
- The "Hryshyne period" of the composer's life, when he lived and worked in the railway settlement of Hryshyne, now Pokrovsk.
- How Leontovych started a railway workers' choir and inspired local residents to be creative.
Separate materials were presented on commemorating the composer in Pokrovsk: the installation of memorial plaques, the appearance of a swallow on the city's symbols, the creation of sculptural compositions, and the holding of the large-scale "Shchedryk Fest" festival.
Introducing young people to the history of Pokrovsk and Leontovich's role in its development contributes to the stability, spirituality, and cultural unity of the Pokrovsk community.
