Published 28 October 2026 year, 16:43

There are still 67,600 residents in the part of Donetsk Oblast controlled by Ukrainian authorities. Since the beginning of October, 8,000 people have left the region.

The progress of the evacuation in the Donetsk region was discussed during a regular briefing at the regional state administration, attended by representatives of the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense, the Children’s Services Agency, and the Department of Social Protection.

The largest numbers of residents were evacuated from the Kramatorsk community—3,500 people—and the Sloviansk community—1,750 people.

Residents of the Oleksandrivka and Novodonetsk communities are increasingly coming forward to be evacuated; since the beginning of the month, 1,070 and 340 residents, respectively, have left those areas.

Evacuation from the Druzhkivka community has become nearly impossible; only 150 people have been evacuated from there this month. Meanwhile, according to local authorities, 1,700 residents remain within the community’s territory.

In total, 2,389 children remain in the territory of Donetsk Oblast controlled by Ukrainian authorities. There are 484 children in the Kramatorsk community, 27 in the Svyatogorsk community, 1,234 in the Sloviansk community, and 1 in the Novodonetsk community. All 1,746 of these children are located in 15 settlements where the forced evacuation of families with children is ongoing.

Since the beginning of October, 761 children have been evacuated from these communities. The largest number of children were evacuated from the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk communities.

The centralized, free resettlement of Donetsk residents to safer regions of Ukraine is ongoing. In October, 497 residents of Donetsk Oblast were resettled free of charge, including 195 people with limited mobility and 45 children.

117 people with limited mobility received long-term nursing care services; another 48 such residents, along with their families, were placed in temporary housing; and 12 people were placed in geriatric care facilities in Zhytomyr Oblast. Overall, in October, Zhytomyr Oblast accepted the largest number of evacuees from Donetsk Oblast for free housing.
