As part of a working visit to Ivano-Frankivsk, Oleksandra Zhuravel, Chief of Staff of the Donetsk Oblast State Administration, visited the «Donetsk Oblast Educational and Methodological Centre for Culture», a municipal institution.
During the meeting, they were briefed on the centre’s work, its main areas of activity and the results achieved by the team amidst a full-scale war. Despite being forced to relocate, the centre’s staff continue to fulfil an important mission: to preserve, develop and promote the cultural heritage of the Donetsk region, and to support cultural workers, amateur groups, folk art masters and creative initiatives.
Particular attention was paid during the meeting to issues concerning the preservation of the Donetsk region’s intangible cultural heritage, the development of amateur art, methodological support for cultural institutions and the enhancement of professional skills among those working in the sector.
It is important that today the cultural centre continues to serve as a professional hub for cultural life in the Donetsk region, bringing together specialists, creative groups and representatives of the cultural sector regardless of their current location.
«Culture is something that cannot be confined to a single building. It is preserved by people – through their knowledge, labour, creativity and dedication to the cause. It is thanks to such people that the cultural voice of the Donetsk region continues to be heard,» noted Ms Oleksandra.
Separately, they discussed cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which has become an important partner and a refuge for many cultural institutions and workers from the Donetsk region. Cooperation between the regions opens up new opportunities for implementing joint cultural projects, professional exchanges and the promotion of Ukrainian culture.
Today, the cultural community of the Donetsk region is operating under new conditions, but remains united in its primary goal – to preserve the region’s cultural identity and pass it on to future generations.
