Since the beginning of June 2026, 9,500 residents have left the Donetsk region, including more than 780 children. As of June 23, the population of the territory in the Donetsk region under Ukrainian control stands at 135,000 people.
The progress of the evacuation in the Donetsk region was discussed at a regular briefing at the regional state administration, attended by representatives of the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense, the Children’s Services Agency, and the Department of Social Protection.
There are still 14,800 residents in the 20 communities designated as active combat zones. Of these, three children are living with their families in Mykolaivka; their whereabouts cannot be determined.
In total, 7,678 children remain in the Donetsk region. In areas where the evacuation of families with children has been declared mandatory, 393 children remain. In certain neighborhoods of Sloviansk, there are 250 of them; in certain settlements of the Kramatorsk community and on certain streets of Kramatorsk, there are 140 children.
Over the past week, 85 children were evacuated from designated areas of the Kramatorsk community and Sloviansk.
Since the beginning of June, 286 children have been evacuated from settlements where the mandatory evacuation of families with children was ordered. The largest number came from the Kramatorsk community and Sloviansk. Five children were evacuated from Druzhkivka, and one child from the village of Serhiivka in the Andriivka community.
Free relocation continues for people who have nowhere else to go and have requested such assistance. Since the beginning of June, 221 people—including 46 residents with limited mobility and 44 children—have been transported free of charge to safer regions and accommodated there at no cost.
Many regions of Ukraine are accepting residents of Donetsk for free relocation, and the charitable organization “Save Ukraine” is housing families with children in its shelters. The Zhytomyr region is accepting residents with limited mobility. The “Skhid SOS” Charitable Foundation is also assisting with the relocation of these individuals.
In total, there are 701 elderly people with limited mobility living alone in the Donetsk region who are receiving services from social workers, taking the security situation into account. Unfortunately, 533 of them are currently categorically refusing to leave their homes. The rest are considering leaving if the security situation worsens.
