Nearly 124,500 residents remain in the territory of Donetsk Oblast controlled by Ukrainian authorities. A total of 13,000 people live in 19 communities whose territories have been designated as active combat zones. Since the beginning of the month, 7,800 residents—including 1,100 children—have been evacuated or have left Donetsk Oblast on their own.
The progress of the evacuation in Donetsk Oblast was discussed during a regular briefing at the regional state administration, attended by representatives of the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense, the Children’s Services Agency, and the Department of Social Protection.
Since the beginning of July, 3,165 residents of the Kramatorsk community, 2,037 from the Sloviansk community, 542 from the Druzhkivka community, 151 from the Kostiantynivka community, and 21 from the Mykolaiv community have left their communities.
There are currently 51,700 people remaining in the Kramatorsk community and 38,500 in the Sloviansk community. According to the latest data, 867 residents are registered in the Kostiantynivka community, 1,247 in the Mykolaiv community, and 2,258 in the Lyman community.
More than 670 elderly people with limited mobility in the Donetsk region continue to receive assistance from social workers. 159 of them have agreed to be evacuated should the security situation deteriorate. However, 512 of them are currently categorically refusing to move to safer regions, including even those whose relatives are willing to take them in.
In total, there are 6,624 children in the Donetsk region. Two children remain in the active combat zone (Mykolaiv community), and their whereabouts cannot be determined at this time.
There are 235 children living in 16 settlements across four communities where the forced evacuation of families with children is underway. There are 51 children in a designated area of the Kramatorsk community, 118 children in certain districts of the city of Sloviansk, and 64 children in the Novodonetsk community.
Since the beginning of July, 186 children have been evacuated from the territory where families with children are being forcibly evacuated, including 71 children from the Kramatorsk community, 104 children from certain districts of Sloviansk, and 10 children from the Novodonetsk community.
The centralized, free resettlement of Donetsk residents to safer regions of Ukraine is ongoing. This process is taking place through transit centers in the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The transit center in the Kharkiv region is bearing the heaviest burden in receiving evacuees from Donetsk, with 200–300 people passing through daily.
Since early July, 247 people have been resettled in other regions, including 91 people with limited mobility and 38 children. At the national level, Kirovohrad and Rivne regions have been designated as host regions, and most people have been resettled there. Residents of Donetsk have also been resettled in other regions.
Civil society organizations are providing significant assistance with resettlement. Thanks to the “Skhid SOS” Charitable Foundation and its partners, more than 10 people have been sent abroad. The “Save Ukraine” Charitable Foundation is assisting families with children by resettling them in communities in Poltava Oblast, areas of compact settlement in Cherkasy Oblast, and shelters in Kyiv Oblast.
