How veterans can find a support specialist and get help

Published 26 May 2026 year, 13:13

There are already 2,600 specialists working in communities across Ukraine to support war veterans and demobilized personnel. Their mission is to help servicemembers and their families navigate government services, support programs, and the various stages of returning to civilian life. This was reported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

Support specialists help with:

  • obtaining status and necessary documents;
  • receiving social benefits;
  • navigating medical services and rehabilitation;
  • learning about employment opportunities, education, and housing programs;
  • receive advice on grants and support programs.

They can also provide basic psychological support and help you find veteran-focused spaces and communities for socializing and mutual support.

How do I find a specialist?

You can do this online or in person—whichever is more convenient for you.

🔹 Online — via “Veteran PRO” in the “Diya” app

To do this, you need to:

  • open the “Diya” app;
  • go to the “Services” section → “Veteran PRO”;
  • select “Find a Specialist”;
  • specify the region and community or the specialist’s full name;
  • view the contact information and details about the institution where the specialist works.

After the consultation, you can also leave feedback on the specialist’s work using the “Share your impressions” feature.

🔹 Offline — through veteran affairs departments in communities

Local veteran affairs offices can help you find a support specialist and advise you on where to go depending on your needs.

Don’t face post-service issues alone—reach out for support, advice, and assistance.

The “Veteran Pro” project in Diya is implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Diya, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine as part of the “Diya Support Project,” funded by Sweden.

It is being implemented as part of the Veterans Policy Strategy and the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, launched at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
