On the eve of Defenders of Ukraine Day, students from the Donetsk Regional Youth Palace “Yunost”, together with children from internally displaced families, held a support workshop titled “Let’s Draw, Create, and Give Thanks!” The event brought together over 200 participants in both in-person and online formats across several regions of Ukraine to make amulets and gifts for Ukrainian military personnel.
Creative workshops were held in several regions of Ukraine. In Kamyanske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, participants wove motanka amulets, while in Kyiv Oblast, members of the “Lab-RS Design” and “Vseznayka” clubs, under the slogan “The Warmth of Our Hearts—To Our Defenders,” made trench candles and lanyards featuring patriotic symbols. In Zolotonosha, Cherkasy Oblast, children created souvenirs in the shape of hearts and angels; in Kropyvnytskyi, they drew greeting cards; in Vinnytsia Oblast, they designed a series of amulet-greeting cards titled “A Piece of My Heart—To the Defender”; and in Odesa Oblast, they wove patriotic bracelets. Children from other cities across Ukraine also participated in the initiative remotely.
All the crafts and gifts were delivered to the soldiers of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. Some of the items were taken to wounded soldiers at the city hospital in Kam’yanske, while the rest were handed over to volunteers for delivery to the front lines.
For the children, the event was an opportunity to feel their connection to the Donetsk region and all of Ukraine and to personally express their gratitude to those who made this day possible for them.
