Young talents of Donetsk region are among the best in the All-Ukrainian contest "Yavornytsky's Code"

The final stage of the All-Ukrainian creative competition for children and youth Yavornytsky's Code took place remotely, but with great inspiration.

The competition lasted from July 1 to August 15, 2025, bringing together young artists and researchers from all over Ukraine. It was organized by the NGO "D.I.Y. Local History and Cultural Society," Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, and D1 TV channel with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

The event was timed to coincide with the 170th anniversary of the birth of Dmytro Yavornytskyi, a legendary historian, researcher of the Zaporizhzhia Cossacks, and keeper of national memory.

Participants competed in five nominations: literary work; drawing/comic book; video; audio podcast; and interactive project.

The results of the Contest were announced on October 5, 2025. The finalists were greeted by the Rector of the O. Honchar State University Serhii Okovytyi, as well as the jury members Mykola Chaban, Zoya Bondarenko, and Yurii Kochkarov, who noted the high level of creativity and scientific curiosity of the contestants.

A special part of the event was the presentation of the collection Yavornytsky's Code, which was presented by Yana Tymoshenko, head of the D.I.Y. NGO, and Maria Nudyshchuk, a researcher of Dmytro Yavornytsky's work.

The finalists include talented young people from Donetsk region:

  • Kateryna Chaus, a 10th grade student at Lyceum No. 5 in Liman, is the author of the interactive presentation Dmytro Yavornytskyi: Crossroads of History and Philology;
  • Kateryna Oliynyk, a student of the Pokrovske Pedagogical Specialized College, author of the literary work Conversation with Yavornytsky on the Bank of the Dnipro;
  • Ilona Shepotko, 8th grade student of Lyceum No. 1 in Liman, author of the essay "Who are we?"
  • Oleksandra Mohylina, 9th grade student of Velykonovosilkiv Secondary School No. 2, a member of the Donetsk Regional Academy of Sciences, author of the essay "Dmytro Yavornytskyi - Chronicler of Steppe Legends" and the video "By the Ways of the Zaporizhzhia Cossacks".

In conclusion, the good news was announced that Kateryna Oliynyk and Oleksandra Mohylina received cash awards for their creative achievements.
