From August 20 to 27, the European weightlifting championships for boys and girls under 15 and under 17 took place in Pristina (Kosovo), where the Ukrainian national team fielded 16 athletes.

He is a master of sports of Ukraine, an athlete of the Donetsk regional specialized professional sports college named S. In the under-95-kg weight class for boys under 17, Mykhailo demonstrated skill, strength, and character. In a tense competition, he won the bronze medal in the snatch, lifting 140 kg. In the clean and jerk, the weightlifter from Donetsk oblast placed eighth with a lift of 158 kg, and in the total he scored 298 kg and finished fifth.

The European champion in this weight class was a representative from Spain with a total of 340 kg, while athletes from Armenia won the silver and bronze medals in the total – 313 kg and 307 kg, respectively.

It is worth noting that this is Mykhailo Maliuk’s second medal at a major international tournament in two months. In July, at the U17 World Championships in Cali, Colombia, he won the silver medal in the snatch.

The athlete’s personal trainers are honored coach of Ukraine Ihor Obukhov and coach Volodymyr Zhoha.
