A conductor is a person who can hear silence and turn it into a masterpiece. Today, we congratulate not just an orchestra leader, but a true maestro, whose many years of work have been recognised with a high state award.
By decree of the President of Ukraine, Yurii Dakhnovskyi, teacher, artistic director and conductor of the brass band of the Ivan Karabits Bakhmut Professional College of Culture and Arts, has been awarded the high honorary title of ‘Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine’ for his conscientious performance of his professional duties.
This award is the result of decades of tireless work, sleepless nights spent poring over sheet music, and boundless love for brass music. Under the leadership of Yurii Dakhnovskyi, the brass band has become a real calling card not only for the college but also for the entire Donetsk region, winning international competitions and winning the hearts of listeners with its skill.
For his colleagues, Yurii Bohdanovych is a model of professionalism and composure, and for his students, he is a wise mentor who teaches them not just to ‘play notes’ but to feel the soul of each piece. His ability to unite dozens of instruments into a single, powerful and harmonious organism is truly admirable.
During his years of work at the Ivan Karabits Professional College of Culture and Arts in Bakhmut, Yuriy Dakhnovsky has trained a whole galaxy of talented musicians who today represent Ukraine on the world's best stages. He has renewed the orchestra's repertoire, combining classical traditions with contemporary Ukrainian compositions, and has made a significant contribution to preserving the traditions of wind instrument performance in our region.
‘Music is a language that everyone understands, but for it to sound convincing, the conductor must be both a strategist and a poet,’ Yurii Bohdanovych often says. And today we see how this strategy has borne its well-deserved fruit.
The entire cultural community of the Donetsk region sincerely congratulates Yuriy Dakhnovsky on this high achievement!
We wish your students to surpass you in skill, multiply the knowledge you have laid down, and go even further, glorifying your work with their successes.
May your baton continue to work its magic, and may every performance of the brass band inspire pride in the culture of Donetsk Oblast! Many happy returns, Maestro!
