The city is under constant fire, with particularly active enemy drones. Because of this, the number of evacuation requests has increased, but the rescue has become much more complicated. The head of the police in Kostiantynivka, Dmytro Kirdiapkin, spoke about how they manage to safely evacuate people from hell.
“Each trip is a carefully planned operation, with calculated routes and adherence to safety measures. The armored vehicle is equipped with means to counter UAVs, and the crew has smoothbore shotguns to hit the drones,” says Dmytro Kirdiapkin.
For the sake of saving people, the police risk their lives every time. During the latest trip to the frontline city, the drone detector showed that the crew was under fire. However, the group continued on their way – five people who asked for help were waiting for them.
The house of a 49-year-old man was destroyed by a direct hit, and his passport and other documents were burned.
“Around 4 a.m., a shell hit the house, nothing was left. These two bags are all I managed to gather,” says the victim.
From another location, the law enforcement officers rescued a woman and a disabled man who was immobile, as well as their two cats.
“Shelling happens every day, up to 20 times a day… A shell landed on the playground, everything flew out for us,” says a 43-year-old resident.
Now all the rescued are already in safe regions, where volunteers delivered them.
In total, over the last month, 196 people have been evacuated from Kostiantynivka, including 13 children, 12 people with disabilities, and one sick person. The evacuation continues.
