Soldier Vladislav Korchiga, call sign “Hipster,” died on December 22, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Novoyegorivka in the Luhansk region. He was 25 years old.
He was born in Mariupol. He studied jazz saxophone at the Dnipro Academy of Music, but after the invasion, he took a leave of absence and moved to Kyiv. He worked as a barista, went hiking, traveled in the Carpathians, and became interested in cynology. He prepared for military service by playing sports and attending training courses.
In June 2024, he became a recruit of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and in the fall he signed a contract. He was a grenadier in the assault battalion.
“He was not afraid of responsibility, he spoke the truth, he loved quietly but strongly,” recalls his fiancée Ksenia. Vlad dreamed of peace and went to fight for it.
He requested that his ashes be scattered over Mount Pip Ivan.
He is survived by his parents and fiancée.
At 9:00 a.m., there will be a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform will commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
