Published 02 September 2026 year, 09:00

31-year-old Illia Korniienko was killed on March 30, 2022, in Kharkiv — he had traveled there on personal business and came under enemy shelling.

He was born and lived in the settlement of Bylbasivka. He graduated from the Sloviansk Agricultural College, qualifying as a machine operator. After completing his mandatory military service in 2010–2011, he worked in several professions, most recently as a 2nd-category track installer on the railway.

In 2015, he was mobilized and took part in the ATO/JFO. He served until 2021 as a Senior Private. He was awarded several honors: the "Cossack Cross" 3rd Class, the Medal "For Exemplary Service in the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs" 1st Class, the "ATO Participant" badge, the Presidential distinction "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation," and a Letter of Appreciation from the NGO of Paratrooper Veterans.

Relatives recall Illia as a kind, sensitive person. He had many friends and loved fishing. He was buried in his native settlement. He is survived by his wife and two children.

At 9:00 AM — the national minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform remember the residents of Donetsk Oblast killed by the Russians.
