Nationwide minute of silence

Published 04 May 2026 year, 09:00

Dmytro Yermolenko was killed in Mariupol on April 4, 2022. A tank shell hit the “Chaika” Palace of Culture, where he and his family were sheltering. Dmytro was 35 years old.

That day, he went up to the boiler room to boil water. He gave drinks to people in the shelter and went back to return the kettle. At that moment, a shot rang out.

Due to constant shelling, his body could not be buried immediately. On April 18, his father, together with acquaintances, tried to bury his son near the building, but during the process he died of a heart attack. Later, both of them were reburied in Vynohradne.

Dmytro was born in the village of Nesteryanka in Zaporizhzhia region, studied in Orikhiv and Melitopol. He worked as a welder at Azovstal. He was calm, kind, always helped others, and spent a lot of time with his daughter.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, and sister.

Every day at 9:00 — a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform “Killed by Russia” honor the residents of Donetsk region killed by Russian forces.
