24-year-old soldier Andrii Orlovskyi, call sign “Gustav,” was killed on September 24, 2024, near Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. During the battle, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of a mortar attack.
Andrii was born in Lyman, where he graduated from a local gymnasium. He was passionate about football, played for a youth sports school team, and supported Shakhtar. Since 2018, he had lived in Uzhhorod, where he studied and worked, and completed his compulsory military service in the 101st Brigade of the General Staff Guard.
After the start of the full-scale war, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade as a gunner in a motorized infantry platoon of the “Vedmedi” battalion. He defended the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk directions. In 2024, he was wounded and received the “For Wounds” distinction.
The defender was laid to rest at Lisove Cemetery in Kyiv. He is survived by his parents and brother.
