Nationwide minute of silence

Published 08 June 2025 year, 09:00

Soldier Bohdan Petruschenko, nicknamed “Pers,” died on September 26, 2024, near the village of Khrapivshchyna in the Sumy region. The defender suffered fatal injuries as a result of an enemy air strike. Now “Pers” is forever 28 years old.

Bogdan was born in the city of Chystiakove. He lived in Crimea and Zaporizhzhia for many years. He graduated from Zaporizhzhia National Technical University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. In civilian life, he worked for the Motor Sich company.

Outside of work, Bohdan studied art and psychology and was interested in history, literature, IT, and programming. He played the guitar, wrote poetry, and composed music.

During the full-scale war, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 54th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion. He held the position of decryptor of reconnaissance materials from UAVs in a company of unmanned aerial systems.

For his service as a defender, he was awarded the “War Veteran” badge.

“Bogdan was not just my husband, but also my best friend and mentor. He was a person with whom I could discuss the structure of the universe, anthropology, and exchange endless lists of literature on any topic. And then watch videos of cute animals and laugh for two hours over some trifle. A devoted, caring, and calm man who taught me to love life,” said Oleksandr's wife.

Bogdan is survived by his wife, parents, sister, and two brothers.

At 9:00 a.m., there will be a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform will commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk Oblast.
