Senior Petty Officer Ihor Savera was killed on August 29, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Burlacha Balka in the Odesa region. The defender was killed in a missile strike. He was 30 years old.
Ihor was born in Donetsk. He studied at Lyceum No. 37 and later enrolled in the Donetsk Military Lyceum. In 2014, he moved to Odesa, and two years later signed a contract with the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served aboard the Chyhyryn military boat and was a squad commander.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ihor and his fellow servicemen faced Russian aircraft at sea. They monitored the situation in the Black Sea, defended the ports of Pivdennyi, Odesa, and Chornomorsk, and ensured the safe passage of civilian vessels through the grain corridor.
His fellow servicemen remember Ihor as a brave, courageous, and loyal comrade.
He is survived by his wife, Yuliia, his five-year-old daughter, and his brother.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence will be held. The Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Memorial of Heroes platform remember the fallen defenders from the Donetsk region.
