Nationwide minute of silence

Published 01 June 2026 year, 09:00

Olha Holubova was killed on June 7, 2022, as a result of the shelling of Sloviansk. At around 10:30 p.m., a projectile struck her home in the city’s Pivnichnyi neighborhood.

“On that day, my mother had moved her bed into the hallway. She thought it would be safer there. But that was exactly where the shell hit…” recalled her daughter, Larysa Soloviova.

Olha Holubova was 73 years old. She was born in the village of Baklanivka in Belgorod Oblast, Russia. After finishing school, at the age of 18, she moved to Ukraine, to Sloviansk, where her aunt lived. She graduated from an art college, got married, and raised three children. Together with her husband, they built their family home.

Olha worked at the Sloviansk Ceramic Plant. She was remembered as one of the best tile-press operators in the ceramic tile workshop and an active participant in community life.

“My mother was very hardworking and kind-hearted. She devoted her entire life to her family. She loved flowers and gardening. Our household plot was always in perfect condition,” her daughter Larysa said.

Olha Holubova was laid to rest at Smolne Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, children, and four grandchildren.

At 9:00 a.m. — the nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform commemorate the residents of Donetsk region killed by Russia.
