Soldier Oleksandr Fedorov, call sign “Lybid,” was killed on February 13, 2024, on the outskirts of Bakhmut. He was killed by an enemy drone-dropped explosive during a combat mission. He was 47 years old.
Oleksandr was born in the city of Chystiakove. He studied at Vocational School No. 86 in Snizhne, where he trained as an underground electrical mechanic. He began working at the Zoria mine at the age of 17.
In 2000, he moved to Kyiv with his wife. In 2008, he fulfilled his dream: he purchased a plot of land in the village of Skrebyshi near the capital and built a small family estate there with his own hands. This was his home until the end of his life — the place he always wanted and dreamed of returning to.
For the first ten years in Kyiv, he worked as an electrician. He contributed to the creation of the illumination of the Archangel Michael monument on Independence Square, the lighting of the refectory and bell tower of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and other projects.
Since 2010, he had been a co-owner of an electrical installation company that he founded with his best friend. Throughout his life, he “created” light and warmth for hundreds of households and businesses. He was extremely skilled and could make or repair virtually anything. His favorite hobby was improving and developing his beloved family estate.
On the first day of the full-scale war, he volunteered for the front. He fought as part of the 132nd Battalion of the 114th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He was deployed to the Bakhmut direction three times and received the “For the Defense of Bakhmut” award. However, he returned from there only twice.
“You were such a wonderful person that the pain of losing you will never disappear for any of us. I wish you could have grown old, sitting in the yard of your big home in the summer and playing with your grandchildren while telling them stories. I dreamed of one more birthday celebration, when the whole family would gather together as we did before. That was my only dream, and it will never come true without you,” wrote the fallen defender’s niece and goddaughter, Olena Fedorova.
Oleksandr was buried in the village of Skrebyshi in the Kyiv region.
He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.
He is survived by his wife Maryna, son Ihor, daughter Karina, parents Viktoriia and Oleksandr, elder brother Andrii, and other relatives.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial of Heroes platform remember the fallen defenders from the Donetsk region.
